They're also capable of delivering pulsation-free material flow, resulting in a smoother, more uniform finish.

 

Tip Size

 

The tip size and spray pattern are critical factors that directly impact the sprayer's performance and the quality of the finished product. Tip sizes are measured in thousandths of an inch and typically range from 0.008" to 0.035" or larger.

 

Smaller tip sizes produce a finer spray pattern, making them ideal for detailed work, trim, and intricate surfaces. Larger tips, on the other hand, deliver a wider spray pattern and higher material output, making them better suited for broad, open areas like walls, ceilings, and large exterior surfaces.

 

Inlet Valve Design

 

Lastly, look at the sprayer's inlet valve configuration. A simple siphon tube works for thin coatings, but sucking thicker materials takes more work. Newer sprayers use a fluid intake system with a ball intake valve to better draw in heavily bodied coatings.
